Plant 5 is located on 170 acres outside the city limits of Tell City, IN and is 588,000 square feet with a workforce nearing 1,000 people. The plant was built in 1997 with expansions in 1999 and 2019, and incorporates robotics and automation to meet the evolving needs of its customers. Two cupola melt furnaces enable the plant to produce several types and grades of iron.

Proactive planning and foresight, all-in collaboration, and effective communication resulted in success for a staggering undertaking: replacing one of two cupolas at Waupaca Foundry Plant 5 in Tell City, Indiana, and within a four-week window. The entire project was executed, though truly a “Herculean effort,” according to Bruce Tesch, Director of Melt and Manufacturing Processes, essentially due to the steady and dedicated efforts of all involved.
